We also use indirect work orders to accummulate costs on new assets or major asset repairs and for "departmentalized" indirect labor.  I only have one indirect labor figure on my GL, but I use WO to departmentalize.  For the indirect labor, we want to know what time/$ has been spent where, so we set up a routing for example in our forge department, we have a routing that has such things as M&E maint. & Repr; T&D Repair; change boards; cleanup/janitorial; lift truck operator; training; light up.

We use certain series of work order #'s so all of one type will be together ie: 105-1, 105-2 etc. are the annual work orders for the indirect labor.

500-5 to 599-99 are the work orders for new equipment or major repairs.

700-1 to 999-99 are the work orders for tool & die.

Lynn,

I am noticing everytime I print JC-M using prior date of 12/31/04 and accepting the other default dates work order status R and F, each time I print on another date I am getting different results...it looks like when a work order is closed it does not show open on the as of date...is there a way to fix???

Thanks Pam

Pam,
I found this out the hard way. You need to include types C and X (because that's its status now, I think).  I was afraid of getting a list including all C and X since the beginning of time, but it works correctly and only shows those open on the "as of" date that have been closed or cancelled since.

Yes, Cyndee, you are right, you need to leave ALL the defaults (including the WO Status) the way the program wants them if you are running as of a prior date.
