Using non-existent item numbers on Quotes
03/01/05 at 12:20:14

Is there a way to use a non-existent Item Numbers when entering line items on the SO-P-A Add New Quote program.

We manufacture custom items that often do not have a pre-assigned item number at the quoting stage or are quoted using a model number or some other designator.

I have seen that you can leave the item number blank, and enter a description, but the program does not allow you to enter a price, qty etc.

Thanks for the help.

If you leave the item number blank DBA sees it as a "comment" line. You MUST use part numbers in DBA. One of the realities of the program. You can make it a "non-stock" item where quantities and such won't be tracked, but you must still enter one.

Some folks like to use a "dummy" part number for this purpose, but that does defeat most of the convenience of being able to quickly and easily convert a quote to an order and a WO if/when you win the business.
