EDI Import
03/04/05 at 12:55:38

Hi,
I have been playing with importing web orders into DBA using the Sales Order import.

Seems nearly ok, but with a few issues.  In the classic interface, it does not seem to automatically assign the next available sales order number--maybe this is an issue with the interface, or maybe with our test company?

Also, it does not seem to bring in the correct data for subtotal and total fields. Something not 100% with the mapping?

I did notice that for the Cust City, the field size should be 26, and the same for the Ship to City, field size should be 26.

Is there a more accurate or up to date edi map, perhaps?

Any suggestions would be great!

TIA,

Val

Update:  the SO number assignment was related to our test company.  After I re-created it, that function works correctly.

But I still can't get it to bring in the correct subtotal and total info.  It brings in correctly the tax and freight.  It also does not bring in the price at all, no matter what I do.

The product desc field was also not importing properly, and I noticed that if I eliminated the field "Orig. Part" from the mapping, my product Desc info came in correctly.  (Before removing the field, it would add 15 character spaces before the start of my prod desc field.)
There's still something not quite right on the edi map file.

Really could use some help with this one.

Thanks,

Val

We've discovered that there are many fields in DBA that use four decimal places, and this is what makes a difference as to what gets imported correctly/in the right place.  The edi map does not specify this info, so you need to look at the specific fields you will be importing and know which ones you may need to tack on a few zeros to in order to get the import to work properly.

Between getting the developers to get the export format using the proper number of decimal places, and a fix Lynn provided, we are now working wonderfully with the sales order import program.  It's going to be great using this!

Thanks, Lynn for your help here.  I really appreciate it!
