Project management & Gantt charts
03/31/05 at 11:00:54

We are trying to help everyone "see" the progress of die designs & repairs through the manufacturing system.  I know that the reports from WO & Job Cost do not fill the bill for actually seeing how we are doing against a schedule.

Gantt Charts have been requested.  The sinking feeling I have is developing another system separate from DBA that needs maintained when we are already buried in systems.

Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas of how to accomplish this using DBA?

How about a graphical work order scheduler viewer

or something like that

drag and drop work order /workcenter scheduling would be really awesome.

John, you will see the first graphs/charts at the symposium next week.  This first pass is analytical (what has already happened) rather than Planning (what will happen).

Still early and not as full featured as we hope it will become.  Drag and Drop work order scheduling is on the agenda of things to discuss.  I agree, it would be awesome!!

You've got my vote for this as well.  We're currently in the process of evaluating different PM applications to do shop scheduling and GANTT charts separately from DBA, so graphs and charts would be a welcomed addition / requirement to the system.

Microsoft project so far seems like it could be a great front end to Scheduling in dba.

Good try on the MS Project front.  Already tried it.  It was a real pain with DBA dates and MS dates.  The all hav e to be converted.  Currently we simply export our shipping schedual and import in MS Project as DBA converts the dates to standard notation.

Works great for now as we only look at scheduals on Fridays and end up changing them on Friday afternoon!

Is it that the dates are stoored diffrently in the accual file that the odbc reads ?

so you export the shiping schedual

how do you do that ?
