Direct deposit
04/06/05 at 11:10:02

Can someone tell me what the capabilities are in DBA for Direct Deposit and where I would even look for them in the menus? Does it generate ach files? Can a person just "print" the check data to these ach files.

I found two scant posts on the board concerning direct deposit and an auxillary program that does something on the processing side but nothing else ...

What DBA's direct deposit does is use a different check number range and consolidate the total net pay into one lump sum. You have to manually (as far as I know) create the ACH batch.

David's right, it uses different "Check #'s", but the bacth is all one unit unless you pay the DD's first and then the Check in a seperate group.  It also prints "THIS IS NOT A CHECK" on the advice so that you can hand something to your employees on plain paper without then trying to cash it!

I sure wish it would create the ACH file on it's own.  We have to take the reports and go to our bank's ACH utility and re-key the amounts each week.  Not bad for a few employees, but not fun for our 75+!  At least I've streamlined it and the bank keeps the batch template for us from week to week.

If the ACH file definition is consistent from bank to bank and somebody who has done it manually could explain exactly what goes where, I am sure we could have the program do it.  My suspicion is that the banks don't all have the exact same format even though it is supposed to be a "standard".

Lynn-

I' dbe happy to help, but for us "doing" the ACH file is logging onto the banks website and filling in the necessary amounts.  We never actually see the batch files itself.  I'll try to get ahold of my ACH contacts and see if they can provide me with specifications for what they would take via e-mail.

Is there a direct deposit option on DBA Classic?
