Barcodes

Our company is considering using bar codes for inventory transactions.  Has anyone used the products from WASP Technologies?  Or is there another progran that interfaces with DBA?

Anything that has a Wedge interface can be used with DBA, you don't need any special software but see http://www.istechsupport.com/ts_mq1.asp - in most cases, DBA is not looking for a part number when making entries but rather the PO or Work Order or Sales Order number.  So bar coding part numbers has limited benefit.

What exactly do you want to accomplish?  Look at the screen in DBA that is currently used to do what you are trying to bar code - what information does it ask for?

There has been much discussion about barcoding in various sections of this forum, I recommend doing a search for "barcode" and expanding the "max age" to 90 or so, and reading some of those threads.

As far as WASP, I have seen their products in use, don't know how their software interfaces with ERP systems, but a simple wedge-type scanner from any vendor will substitute for keyboard input. I recommend visiting http://abetech.com , specializing in barcode solutions. I have used them in the past, they have a helpful, friendly staff and reasonable prices.

Hello Mike, my name is John Hepola.  I'm a consultant with Techno Resources, Inc. out of Washington state.

We have some custom programs developed for a past customer dealing with barcoding inventory transactions:  1)  Barcoding WO #'s for Import Finished Production (DE-H-C), 2)  Barcoding Item Codes for Import Physical Inventory Count (DE-H-D), and 3)  Barcoding Item Codes to automate Transfer Inventory (IN-L-J).

The first 2 programs stored data in a portable scanner to be dowloaded at the customer's timing.  The third used a wedge scanner.

If any of these are of interest to you or you would like to explore a new custom program, please contact me.

Thanks...
