Work Order Issue
06/30/05 at 04:17:17

We issued parts for a work order and it posted to the WIP GL, but does not appear on the WIP report, therefore my GL to WIP is off by this amount. If I went back in to re-issue the parts, it's as if they have never been issued. How do I go about fixing this? Thanks.

Nobody has had this issue or knows how to fix it? Of course this happens at month end.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated so I can clear up this variance. Thanks!

I had a different but similar problem recently. In my case the work orders themselves disappeared from the WO-A list, but the allocations still showed up. It seems that some tables were not updated.  I used SM-J-A, work order file maintenance and it fixed it. BE SURE TO BACK UP FIRST. The help tells you which files. You can also run it in report-only mode first.

Also look at the JC-E report for the work order to see if the parts are listed.

I ran the SM-J-A report only and no changes were needed. I also ran the JC-E, which we run after each issue to make sure the parts were issued and they do not show up on this report. I just ran into this problem again today. We issued the parts, they went into allocated and came out of the on hand but it does not appear on the wip report, nor the issued report and when you go into reissue it shows that the parts were never issued. So now I reissued the parts and it moved them to wip on the inventory screen, appears on JC-E and also on the wip summary. Now my GL is overstated because the GL thinks I issued the parts twice and the on hand is off because it took both issues out of the on hand quantity. How do I go about fixing this? And why does this keep happening? We are not getting any errors during the issue process that would indicate something has gone wrong.  PLEASE HELP!! THANKS.

Lynn,

In case these 2 problems are related (ours was only 1 time, though)--
In IN-A, on the Allocations screen the WO number was listed but the STAT column was blank for the ghost WO.

We issued parts on friday and had the same problem and now again today. This seems to be happening everytime we issue materials now. My inventory on hand is all wrong now for multiple parts and I keep having to make journal entries fixing the GL for WIP and RAW. Why is this happening? How do I fix the on hand? HELP!!!!!

using ISTS update 2/22/05 for Classic and TAS-EVO

Just had this happen again. We backflush so no parts have been issued. I went to Enter Finished Production and the WO is gone.  I know it was converted from sales order because Allocations show up. They are not on the front screen in IN-A but are there when you click the Allocations button. Again Status field is blank. No error messages during conversion from SO.  Cannot cancel WO. Says "no records in the primary file"

You are having 80% of your work orders simply vanish?  If that were happening to everybody, we would have a mutiny on our hands!   Shocked

I am not even sure where to tell you to start.  Usually file corruption results in gibberish and such, not the clean deletion of records.  If you run SM-J-A in Report Only mode, it would tell you what "orphans" you have - meaning WO BOMs and Routings without  a Work Order header.
