Duplicate Companies Showing in Change Company
07/21/05 at 14:31:12

After Evo-ERP was moved to a new server and after a recent update to our Evo-ERP -- When we go to "change company", the drop down window shows multiple duplicate companies as well as the company we are currently logged into.

I'm sure it is something I did in the move and update.

I know that the current company shouldn't show in the drop down window.  I also checked our DBAMFG directory and it shows only one folder for each company, so I'm 99% sure there are no duplicate companies.

How do I get the "change Company" drop down window to act correctly?

One note:  At one point I had updated to the June update and had some errors so I tried many attempts to correct the errors.  I ended up back at the May update.  I plan to update back to the most recent version this evening.  Could this help give a clue to what is going on in the "Change Company" window?

Yes., sounds like the Fileloc.B file is messed up.  If you have a backup of this file I suggest reloading that. If not the go to System manager and open  "UT-D Edit Data Location file" then one by one remove the duplicates....

The Change Company program reads this file for the entries of BKSYMSTR so if you have multi entries of that file then that is what is shows...

Good Luck.

I don't have duplicate companies, but it does show the current company.

I also have a related problem:

A few months ago I tried to copy my main company to a "sandbox" duplicate and wasn't able to complete the DDF creation. I can't delete the bad company, and every time I go to "Change Company" I get an error message "Cannot open the BKSYMSTR file for company: B22". How can I delete this rogue company and get rid of the error message? (I did end up creating a successful copy).

In maintain database I show no fileloc.b and many duplicates of the other files.  If I restore an older fileloc.b file will that correct this or does it have to be a very recent one?  In otherwords does this file change daily?

Another question -- During an update of Evo last night to June update (after earlier June update, problems, ending back at May update) I was asked if wanted to overwrite some files that had a more recent date than the one in the update with the older file.  I said yes.  But since doing this I had misgivings and I used my pre-update backup and restored to yesterday's starting point.

What should I do when updating to the June update and asked this question again?
