WO notes
08/26/05 at 06:34:16

We have noticed that when a SO is converted to a WO the second line of the part description is put in the WO notes, but when a WO in made in WO-A for the same part the second line of the part description is not in the notes.  By design, or just  the quirky nature of DBA?  undecided

Well, I think it's by "design", though I fail to see the logic of it. We've modified our traveler so that the second line description in the inventory master prints on it, because we often make WOs through WO-A. When converting from a SO we go in and delete the notes in WO-A because it can get pretty confusing with all the repetition.

David,
Thanks for your reply.
We also make alot of stock work orders, ie not from sales orders.
I would really like that second line to show up.
Could you share how you added that line?  I am struggling to learn how to add fields to  these forms-  I can't seem to get the hang of it.  Any help would be much appreciated! Smiley

Click the button on the toolbar that says "DB Text" and then click on the form approximately where you want it (you can position and size it after it's placed). In the left pane there is a heading title Data, and under it, "Datafield".

When you first create a new DB Text field the space to the right of "Datafield" will be blank. Double-click on it and a window will open with file names in the top and fields in the bottom. The one you probably will want is BKICMSTR, BKIC.PROD.NOTE{30}.

Thanks, David that was actually pretty easy.  I didn't realize it took a double click to display files and fields.  Appreciate your help!

This thread was very helpful to me when I was trying to add a data field to a RTM in the forms editor.    I understand Cathy's confusion. While the instructions do say double click, it doesnt say exactly where to double click.   For future reference (because I will forget) you must go to the little pull down box (dont use the arrow to pull down) you double click inside the white open area.

Adding Data Fields
Click the A in the right toolbar (it has a little box attached to it indicating it is a data field) and click on the form.  A data object will be created.  Drag it to the desired position. and on the left side of the screen where it says Data, double click and a Data Dictionary window will open.  Find the desired file and field.  Under Font and Appearance, change as desired.  Note that the editor will allow the selection of any field from any file but the actual print program will only find the data if the file selected is opened by the program in question
