I hate to be such a whiner   but I know IS Techs are as frustrated by this as I am.  When a forum user writes in with a problem, I want to know what version he/she is on so I know if I need to check it out on my setup.
Could you make a version field mandatory in the user profile?   Users would have to update it but at least we would have a starting point with the problem we are reading about.
