Scrap Material
10/26/05 at 12:15:04

Does anyone have a good way to handle scrap material? We have many raw material items that accumulate a lot of "drop-off" that eventually becomes scrap because of the size of the piecies, and are not accounted for. Is there a way to globally add a scrap % to all BOM's that have these parts in their structure? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I can't think of any way to do it in one process at this point. Our BOMs are initially set up with whatever scrap percentage we calculate for that particular part. However, it's more for estimating than anything, since we don't backflush - we account for the amount actually used for the job. If there are fall-offs that we think we can use, we don't count them as used for the job. If we think we may, or think it unlikely, we count them as used, and then they're "free" if we do use them.
