WO issue error
12/05/05 at 14:41:51

I finished a work order and issued the part to another work order.  Inventory inquiry said we had one.  During the issue process in WO-G when I got to the end it said there was not enough inventory and it would go negative- was that okay?  Since I knew there was inventory,  I said yes go ahead! Angry
Then I got a WARNING:
BLICLOC record is not for part/location being posted. (/             ).
We have only one location- blank.
When I looked at the part in inventory  IN-A, transactions showed a WO receipt at the right cost, and a WO issue at 0 cost.
I downloaded the update on Saturday, 12/03 and installed it.

I just ran Consolidate inventory locations and that did not change anything.  We still get that error, but not on every work order issue.  We have several generic work orders every month , some are indirect, some are R status and collect material usage for items not in BOM's-- the thing they have in common is that the first part of the WO is one digit and the second part is three digits, eg 3-512.  The other thing they have in common is that the part number is text.  Every time we issue to one of these, we get the location error message and the part is issued at 0 cost.  We have a lot of issues on hold until we can figure this out-  the issue is no good at $0 cost!

We have tried several different combinations of WO# and Part# and the completely text or number with text part number consistently gives us a bad issue, with the error stated above and at $0 cost.  I hope you can take a look at this soon; our issues are backing up.  We don't want to do any more that will result in $0 cost to the work order.

I can confirm WO-G error.  We had 280 pcs in stock, went to issue 10 pcs to a work order with a class of "I" indirect, and received normal error message of item not on bill of material, which is okay, (as there exists no bill of material for this work order for Engineering supplies), also received error message that inventory will go negative, even though bottom of screen display also confirmed 280 pcs were available.  Responded yes to comment, and received same file error message reported by Cathy.

However, Inventory A and E both reflect the transaction, but reflect it at $0 cost, instead of average cost, and therefore, no transaction exists in the Work Order Journal of the GL because it is at $0.

Confused as to why this is happening.  We just downloaded 11/18 upgrade today, 12/8.  This is the only work order which had a problem; the R class work orders processed okay.  Could it be a problem with the I class work order or lack of a BOM?

Update - we processed another issue of 10 pcs to this work order for the same part number and it issued it properly at $1.05 average cost, HOWEVER, when we thought we had backed out the first transaction at $0, EVO only partially processed the backout of the $0 work order issue,  as the transaction still appears in IN-E , but does not appear in IN-A. and now we have to Reconcile inventory for the disparity in counts.

I think I've got more info for you Lynn, I tried calling a second ago but you are not available.
I told you that we could backflush but what I didn't say and didn't figure out until just now was that we took a work order for a part number that didn't have a routing and gave it a sequence so that we could backflush.
I just was printing a list of parts and saw that one of the ones I was having a problem with was not an "N" type but an "F" type.  That blew the theory that the trouble was with "N' types.  However, I realized that for sure the problem with the parts I am having trouble with is that they don't have routings.  I tried this in test and this is how it went:
Tried to issued to a work order for a part without a routing-- got the error.
Added a routing with one sequence, and tried backflushing- that worked.
Issued to the work order-- no problem.
Deleted the routing for the work order-  can still issue to the work order with no problem.
So how can not having a routing affect part number location???

I believe we have it fixed, I just sent it to you.  It was actually a problem when the component was not already on the BOM and was added.  I was able to duplicate the problem under that condition and have since fixed it.

Can you send us this fix, too???

We issue parts to Repair Work Orders as well as Engineering Supply work orders that do not have a bill of material.
