Issue of Additional Costs to A Work Order
02/28/06 at 09:19:38

I have a closed Work Order that has some additional costs that need to be added.  Any suggestions?  And how does adding them change the "last" and "average" per unit cost calculations .

Re-open work order

Back out last entry to finished goods and/or any work order issues of this item to another assembly

Apply additional costs to work order

Re-enter last entry to finished goods and re-close work order.

If necessary, reissue this item to another work order.

IF item, or final assembly using this item, has not shipped yet, the costs will pass through normally to cost of goods sold.

If inventory had been shipped or used, then the additional costs will appear as a variance (which we classify to operating variation)

The Last Cost of this item will be your last entry to finished production.

I am looking for the procedure to reopen a closed work order.  On many occasions, we will close a work order only to find out that we left off labor associated with it, the part count was incorrect, etc.  How do we go about reopening the work order so that we can "correct" it?

Hello GinaR,

All you have to do is go to WO-A "Enter work Order" Type in the work order number or hit F-2 to find it. If you use F-2 to search for it and you don't see the work order there you have to click on the small door at the top of the grid to show the closed work orders in the grid. Once you have the work order open on the screen click in the little box that says Status and change that to R for release then save it. That's all you have to do.

I think you have to have the default settings in Work Orders Set Up to Allow reopen closed/canceled WO to Y
