Delete Obsolete Parts Showing in Order Action Rep
02/28/06 at 09:43:32

We've run our Order Action report and saw a number of parts that are Obsolete.  Production went through and made sure all obsolete parts were inactive, no min qtys to be ordered, and re-ran the action report.  But the obsolete parts are still showing up, and they have PL's assigned.  If the parts are Obsolete, the system should not be planning it, so how do we get these parts off the report?

Thanks,

Val

Look at the PLs they are pegged to - why does it think they are needed?  Could be some higher level assembly has a reorder level or something.

Just had this happen today. In our case, the items are being replaced with a new part, but old stock will be consumed first, so BOM still calls the old one. As there are forecasts for the upper level assembly, we get PLs for the discontinued parts as well.  Since I am really sure we don't want any more of the discontinued part, I changed its "Include in MRP Generation" setting (IN-B or MR-D) to "No". To be sure the new part gets ordered on time, I made a forecast for it.

I'll have them check to see if in fact some higher level assembly has a reorder level.  Thanks for the input!
Will let you know.
