Vendor Part numbers Disappearing!
03/03/06 at 10:35:05

Have a Major problem!

Vendor Part nUmbers are disappearing!  It's a really weird thing!  And I need some help fixing the problem beofre it gets out of hand.

Here is what I know.

The part numbers exist in my 05 backup company (copy the company every year for historical reference).

When I go into IN-A, it shows a primary vendor,  however, when I click on Vendors, There are no vendors!

If I go into IN-B ande enterthe same part number,  It shows the vendor,  However, when I click on Vendors,  It's blank!  If I Tab past the vendor info in IN-B, then click Vendors,  I get the vendor but no part number!

As soon as I enter the Vendor Part number in IN-B/Vendors, the system appears to keep the number (for now any way)

Question, What is making the Vendors Part numbers disappear and why isn't it happening to my 05 backup?

Please Help,

Tim

This is probably not related, but I had to remove the primary vendor from the inventory record when I had multiple vendors and pricing. If their was a primary vendor, the po would not pull in the correct price or vendor part # for anything but the primary?

John,

I remember Allen saying somehting about changing the vendor info to another file and only the primary is in MTICMSTR.  I think there is a bug there as explained above.  Items that have had their vendor info changed since the update work fine but old ones will not show any vendors until you pass the input field under IN-A.

(Thank goodness we only have one vendor for most parts!)

The primary vendor is stored in MTICMSTR.  Any others (and all Vendor part numbers) are stored in BKSBVEND.  We have not (at least not intentionally) changed how these files are accessed in a long time.  IS Tech never has and DBA made the change maybe back in 1999 or even earlier.

Lynn,

I'm doing some checking between my 05 files and my current files.  When I'm in IN-A and look at vendors,  What is the "T" field on the far right?

Also,  My 05 BKSBVEND table has a lot less entries than my current table.  However,  Looking at the two,  there are parts that have not changed or been edited since the 05 backup.

One of the parts is 12-00003 a Gray primer that we have used since 2004.  It's in the BKSBVEND.B file but not the BKSBVEND.B05.  Everything is identical in MTICMSTR though.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appriciated.

Lynn,

More info.

Have a part that doesn't have vendor part numbers (however it should have)! Did some checking.  The records do not exist in BKSBVEND.B but do exist in my backup company .B05!  The Primary Vendor is listed in MTICMSTR.B and .B05 nether have anything entered under MTIC.PROD.VPC

However, I do have parts that have entries under MTIC.PROD.VPC!  Could this be the problem?  Do I need to update something?

Lynn,

More information and need major understanding.

When I go into TAS-D and look at MTICMSTR.B  I have MTIC.PROD.VEND, MTIC.PROD.VNAM and MTIC.PROD.VPC.  However,  When I go into MTICMSTR.B with Access or Pervasive Control Center,  I have MTIC.PROD.VEND.1 through MTIC.PROD.VEND.10, MTIC.PROD.VEND1 through MTIC.PROD.VEND10 and MTIC.PROD.VPC1 through MTIC.PROD.VPC10!

Why am I not seeing these under TAS-D?  What if there was data under 2-10?

Hi

I have the same problem with disappearing vendor numbers. I checked my last backup with the current BKSBVEND table, and many records are missing from the current one. If you dont have a lot of new vendor items since your last back up, you can replace the BKSBVEND from the backup and run SBUTIL from UT-A.
In my case, lots of new items where entered since the last backup, so I need different way to handle it.

I really need help, any suggestions?

Thanks

More info:

Ok so we have been adding the vendor part numbers back manually as we find they are missing.  If course,  they just disapear later so wo are doingthis alot!

Just tried to add a new vendor to a part and got an error!  Went into IN-B tabed pass Vendor and clicked on the Vendors button.

On vendors screen , clicked on add and pressed F2 (also does it when you click lookup) on the Vendor field.  Get "the array element specified is out of range for this field."

Any idea what's going on?  Does this help with the Vendor number disappearing?

Please let me know what I can do to fix this problem.

Hi,

I just lot my vendor#s again, did anyone find a reason why this is happening? now its happening more frequently than before, we cant rely on DBA now, lots of duplicate stock items were entered thinking they do not exist, and then discovering that its only the vendor# that disappeared. Sad  Angry
Any advancements??

Hi,

Any advancements on the topic? It happening so often now, its impossible to rely on the system. This morning I added approved vendor and their Part#, I went to make a PO for those items, and it gave me the message that vendor not approved. I went back and checked, the vendors had disappeared. Its really frustrating, I am afraid many duplicate items might be added thinking we dont have stock numbers for them simply because teh vendor#s are disappearing and we cant find them.

Any body, Any suggestions, PLS NEED HELP URGENTLY. This issue is driving me crazy and eating up most of my time. Angry

Tim and Diala:

What versions are you guys running?  Include the update version so we can look on our systems and see if with the same versions the same issues are occurring.

Diala,

We're on the EvoERP version (see my post info), so it could just be an issue with the Classic.  But, I'll ask the folks here if they've seen those issues.  Usually something like that they'll speak up on, but I'll double-check just to be sure.

Thanks a lot Val,

The thing is the records completly disappear from BKSBVEND, they are just deleted!!. when you go into Inventory entry, If a primary was specified, it still show it there, but when you click on vendors... there is nothing... My assumption is something is not right with BKSBVEND and BKSBMFG (bec it happens to manufacturers as well). At first it used to happen once every 6 or 7 months..but lately its happening every few weeks, sometimes a couple of time a week and we do add new mfg and vendors all the time, so its really becoming a big issue. Its greatly appreciated if someone can look into it.

Thanks again,
