A PO receipt only posted the dr side and didn't create the B/S Liab credit side of the entry.  I went into GL-P and created the balancing side of the entry in order to post, but is there a better way to correct it?  And what could cause this to happen?

That is the way to fix - were there any error messages during the receipt.
