SUB-OUT JOB COSTING
03/23/06 at 07:59:23

Occassionally, we sub-out work to other companies such as machine shops.  When we receive invoices for the work performed, how does that cost get associated to the work order it was tagged to? Isn't there a way DBA will allow this without having to close the work order and manually adjusting the cost?
Thanks!

Sounds like you should create a Type T part for the outside processing.  This can be purchased on a PO and included in a BOM or issued to a Work Order.

See this thread:

Thanks - We'll look into that.
Anyone else have any other ideas?

The PO for the type T item should have the work order number entered on the line and then the costs will automatically post to the work order.

You could also (if you use Routings) set up Sequences for Outside Processing and place Service type POs against those sequences.
