drill down menu
03/25/06 at 10:48:19

I just loaded the new update.  WOW! --as promised at the symposium!

One thing I thought would happen that didn't is the drill down button in programs. The symposium hand-out on drill downs it says "The drill down function will appear in programs as a button with a green circle containing a white arrow pointing downward."
Has this not happened yet?  Or do we go to the Master inquiry whenever we want to drill down?
I am having a problem with the drill down inquiry screen disappearing behind the other program window that I open.  I finally figured out where it went!  I saw another post on cascading screens- I will have to look at that closer.
I really like the graphs in the business status.  Now I will have to get my data accurate.  Since I loaded the program back in September, some of the data is not right.  I have fixed some of it that I can document, the asset and liability accounts, but booked orders, open sales orders, etc. I am not sure how to fix.  Any suggestions?
Thanks again for the very cool update!

Cathy,

The Drill Down buttons will happen in all the T6 programs when I rewrite them to True windows programs.. till then the buttons will remain the same , but the drill down menu's will be called. Take a look at T6INA and T6INB, the buttons are same old buttons ,but  the lookups are the new drilldown ones.

Thanks, Alan,
I was still running the BK programs for IN-A and IN-B.  When I changed to t6 I got the drill down screen. Cool!

I can see I'm going to have lots of fun learning how to create my own grids!  Two that I really want are workorders that a part is used in or issued to, and serial numbers and lot numbers.  Any pointers would be appreciated.

I just went into the maintain grid lookup program and I see one of the ones I want, LOT,  right off the bat but can't figure out how to get it to display in the drill down screen.

Will the conversion to the T6 programs be accomplished during an update, or is this a manual process?  If it is a manual process, the the menu changes documentation should be updated to reflect this.
I would hope that there would be some way to automagically update programs in EVO (user's menus) when they are changed.  Having to go in and change each user's menu (first having to find out that there is a change) is a real pain.

Normally I would agree with Vman- but then I wouldn't want the update to mess with the menus I have set up for my users.  I printed a list of menu changes and didn't see IN-A and IN-B on the list-  it would be nice if that list was accurate.
Anyway, I am glad that the drill down button is not available in anyone's version but mine because I have been having a few problems with it.
I can't get the lot or serial drill down to work, I have had it lock up on me a couple of times it the work order and PO drill down-- some of the people here using DBA don't do well with unexpected results.  I will just keep the inquiry screen with the buttons for them until I understand this new drill down program and some of the bugs are worked out.
Still, it's a real step up!

PS You've really made it easy to modify menus-- such an improvement-- especially the menu button with image number drop down list!

When you are ready to apply a change (such as changing from BKINA.RUN to T6INA.RUN) across the board, there is a Change Prg Name button in the upper left corner of TAS-G that will accomplish that without having to edit menus one by one.

Could someone post some basic information on how the drill-down is to be setup?  I tried the help files but couldn't figure it out.

BTW, When I changed my menu to call T6INA.RUN, I got the same spyglass icon for the lookups, but neither F2 or clicking on the icon works for a lookup now.

Thanks,
Sean

Lynn,

I forgot about the change program name button in TAS-G, but once again, you would have to know that a newer program exsisted Smiley.  I looked at the drill down and agree with CathyH that one I figure them out, they will be of great benefit.
