posting old transactions
04/11/06 at 16:22:16

i have been updating the accounts for a company, and have found that they have very old (2002) transactions that were never posted to the GL. the system now wont let me, because they are so old. but i need them there somehow.
is there anyway to do it? i remember reading somewhere that you need to change the system date or something. but i have no idea how or where to do that.  ???

i found where to remove the ledger close date to allow me to post the old transactions. however, it is now saying that they all have invalid dates, i've checked on a calendar to see what days they are, but they're all completely random days, mostly in the middle of the week - not even weekends.

what do i do??

The Close date must be prior to the oldest transaction you are trying to post.  But the system only handles the current year and one and two years past so anything that old will need special treatment.

Do you really want to post them or just get rid of them?

what kind of "special treatment" would be required?

and i'd prefer to post them, but i suppose if it cant be done i'll just get rid of them. but i dont know how to do that either.
