invalid pointer operation
04/18/06 at 07:55:07

On  a "Win 2000 Professional" system that is being used as the server and workstation, we are getting many invalid pointer operation errors. this happens when exiting various programs, most oftenly WO-A and SO-L. We do not get these same errors on the XP workstations. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Steve

Invalid Pointer errors usually relate to file indexes so it doesn't make sense that only one station would get them if all are looking at the same data.  All stations are in the same company doing the same sorts of things?

Lynn,

I have not done a lot of testing but it seems isolated to the one workstation. Would a memory or other hardware problem cause this? The person that is having the problem, does 98% of the data entry on this workstation, so it is logical that the rest of us just don't have enough exposure to run into this on other workstations.

I do have occasional problems with another database program that locks up on some print jobs. This is why I am leaning towards hardware issues. The errors relate to reading memory locations.

Thanks,
Steve

Just for troubleshooting, have that person use a different workstation for a couple of hours.  See if the errors follow him.

Same operator used same work station but switched back to DBA Classic and no problems in DBA Classic.

I would like to switch over to EVO because I can do things with the report editor that a I had to use Crystal Reports for when using Classic. Hope we can work out this bug.
