0 Qtys on Pick Lists

Hi, I'm new to the forum so bear (bare?) with me!  When I print pick lists for WOs, all the components listed have 0 quantities instead of the amounts to pick.  Good thing the plant knows our products by heart!  Is there some setting in EVO I have to change to get quantities to show up?  Is this affecting inventory numbers??

The only way they should be zero is if you already picked the items and issued them.

do you have backflush on ?

Aahhh, I have been Issuing Materials before printing Pick Lists.  Maybe I should print the Pick Lists first??  I don't think Backflushing is turned on but never know what to expect (I took over my position recently, am new to EVO and have been doing a lot of cleaning up of messy books).

On a different note:  Does closing workorders automatically enter finished production or do I have to Enter Finished Production as a separate operation over and above Close Work Orders?  How important is it to Enter Finished Production?  I closed a lot of really old workorders recently to get things up to date, but did not enter FG first.  My WIP Variance GL Account is now way to the minus side on my balance sheet.  I have a feeling the above had something to do with it.  What's the proper account to offset WIP Variance?

Thanks for your help!

Kemazo,

Closing a work order does not enter finished production!  is simply closes the order and posts costs to manufacturing variance.  Also need to make sure you roll up costs when you close or you will have a WIP variance on a closed WO.

Hope it helps,

We mostly finish production one unit at a time, and we finish production at actual cost not standard cost.   So in our case any wip variance is just issues not posted at the time of finish.  At the end of every month I journal entry the wip variance into COGS account.
If you are finishing at standard cost and want to keep track of the variance between standard and actual, then the variance is that number and you would not necessarily want to get rid of it.  But is is part of the COGS number.
