Finite Scheduling
06/14/06 at 15:58:39

I already posted this on the Forum and am posting it again as a repeatable problem, as I cannot get it to work, despite trying various ways.

I have a situation where I want to forward schedule and use finite scheduling too.  I have 9 work orders set up, each with 1 operation, and all using the same work center.  This one work center is set up to use finite scheduling and 8 hours capacity.

I am running SH-E Finite Scheduling, hitting Re-Process and Go, and nothing happens.  The Sched Start date does not change and all the Sched Finish dates show 00/00/00.

SH-G Print Work Order Schedule has original Start Dates but no Finish Dates.

SH-I Work Center Schedule has no Start or Finish Dates.

SH-O Finite Schedule Bucket Report has a completely blank screen with nothing on it, no text, lines or anything.

Am I reporting a bug or am I missing a step?

Ive never had any results with the scheduler that made less work for me.

Lynn,

Well, it looks like someone else is experiencing the same problems that I have.  Can we have this noted as a bug and have it fixed sometime in the future?  I think it is a good feature and it would be nice to have it working.

Thanks

i tested in manufacturing answer. i was getting the same result as you were.

then i remembered, my shop calendar was out of date!

so i ran a new shop calendar from 1/1/2006 thru 12/31/2008 marking off just weekends.

went back to sheduling SH-E. process and GO. wow, now i have the finish dates.

Dave,

Thanks for your help.  The notes on "How Finite Scheduling Works" state that you "must generate a scheduling calendar".  I thought I had done that but obviously did not do it correctly.

I just followed your advice and now it seems to work properly.  I will double check it thoroughly over the weekend, but I am sure you gave us the solution.  So thanks very much once again, otherwise I would still be banging my head against the wall.
