We are doing some scanning/barcoding. Not sure what RF scanner refers to. We are a forging facility...quite dirty and some of the guys can be pretty hard on things. However, so far the data collection is working okay. We are trying to eliminate as much on the keyboard entry as possible due to transpositions, so they have to use the scanner for everything including answering yes/no questions, etc. We have set up a couple of stationary data collection terminals, hard wired to our network. Our scanners are gun type-point & click. We use AML (American Microsystems, Ltd.) model M2800-0000. Have to watch whether you need a USB connected one, or the older type connections. Bought new computers and the new scanners wouldn't work. Had to send them back for USB connections. We have recently upgraded our scale/weigh counting system and can use a scanner on that for whatever we have barcodes-work order #, PO#, etc. That scanner is also a gun type but it is called EZSCAN MT-7123CG. The scale printer barcodes various fields that we have specified. I am not really an expert but feel free to call me if you want to discuss.
