Order of Checking Accounts AD-B

Does anyone know if we can rearrange and move the order of checking accounts in AD-B without negative consequences?

Thanks.

In a word, NO. Same with the Terms Table in SM-D. What is actually stored in all the various other files is the number of the account or the term so if you rearrange them, you will make a BIG mess.

This is a good thing to know!!  I have almost done this in the past.  If an account is closed can you reuse the number for a new account without any problems?

you can, but then you have to accept that all checks in that check register belong to that checking account. which you know to not be true.

but as long as you know what cutover date, and what is reconciled in that specific checking account. then you are ok.

if you want a clean seperation tho, then use a New and different line for a new checking account.

hopefully there will be an added feature to disable a checking account yet keep it for history.

hth,
dave

Well I had made the mistake fo deleting #2 checking account and reusing the #2 with the new account. I used the brute force method of using search and replace in the various file sets to renumber previous transactions. It did work and I see no ill effects. A real mess in all!

It would be a nice feature to increase the total number of allowed checking accounts from 9 to say 20 or 30.  Then there would be no need to worry about reusing accounts.

We have already maxed out our 9 alloted checking accounts.

It would also be nice to have additional allowable terms in the terms table.

I must also admit to maxing out our number of accounts, and having more/being able to reuse them would be really convenient, so that i dont have to work around the few that we have.

maybe if enough people made a point that we want more, they will add some for the next update.

Unfortunately, adding to the checking accounts and Payment terms is not a simple thing to do because of the number of programs that use them.  It is definitely on the list but not something we can throw together for the next update.
