should be simple, but i've wrestled with it on 1 w/s for too long, while other w/s set up was easy as pie.
 
i did find that ( on this one particular customers') that Evo email doesn't like Office 2000.
 
but Office 2003 using Exchange, easy.. ( cross your fingers..)
 
so, on a person's w/s, in Evo, in TAS-C configuration, clik on tab "Email settings" you don't need to change much. leave most fields the way the are only change the following:
SMTP Server = ServerName  ( not the .com or .local for the domain. just the HostName of the server that is Hosting MS Exchange)
smtp password = make it /leave it blank
smtp username = make it/leave it blank
email address = davem@digitalconsulting.biz  
email name = Dave Mengelkamp
 
key aspect, is that the user names are already setup in MS Exchange, so if your spelling of their email accounts are accurate, then all should be fine.
clik on OK
 
now if you want to make further settings go to TAS-K Email setup this is where you want to put in your email address if you always Blind copy yourself, modify the subject maybe to " PDF Attachment - Order" knowing that you have to change it for every email. so this is just a generic subject field.
 
same with the body text. some companies want to put notices of email disclaimers, etc.
 
signature block if you so desire.
 
key part to this screen is that the Attach Path = C:\ISTS\PDFS\ or you can call it something different. it is designed to create a folder on your local C: drive, inside the ISTS folder to store all the PDF's that you email.
 
some company's want this to go to a mapped / shared drive on server for backup and user visibility.  
 
 
while i did have a problem setting up a user that had Office 2000. it might have been something else, but once i upgraded them to Outlook 2003 or Office 2003, EVO Email was great for my customer, and they are happy.
 
sometimes you might have to delete the NZEMAIL.CFG located in the C:\ISTS folder. then redo the 2 setups as described.

I just read the Help file for set email configuration and it says:
Enter the SMTP Server information and user email login and password to enable emailing of forms such as Invoices and Purchase Orders.  If you are using Exchange Server for email, you need to add it to the DNS.
 
What does add "it" to the DNS mean?

I can set up an account in my outlook that is a POP3 account and using a SMTP connection to send mail, and it works fine.  When I use the same settings for user name and server name in the EVO setup it does not work.  There must be some requirements in the fields for the email setup that I am missing.

I just had a great session with Dave and he fixed me!
I still am not sure why this was happening, but the end result was that my email setup was going to the ISTS file but the email program was pointing to the ISNZ file. We changed the path in the registry and now I have email.

Evo does not use Outlook or any other program to send the email.  It connects directly with the email server.
