Specs not printing on Purchase Orders
08/14/06 at 09:38:07

We rarely use the specs button in IN-B, but when we do it is important.

Just recently I noticed that an item DID have specs entered, but there was no prompt to include the specs in the Purchase Order.  I am certain that there used to be a prompt some time ago, but I haven't seen it lately.

What is going on?

"If this item has Specifications defined in its inventory master record, you will be asked if you want them included.  If you indicate yes, they will copy in as comment lines following the manufacturer’s item number.  Up to 12 lines of specifications may be defined.

This is from the help file. It should be there....

What you mentioned is exactly what used to happen.

Now, we do not get asked if we want specs included, even for items that have specs...

This is for including the specs on Purchase Orders.  I know that there is a new ISTECH default for Sales Orders.

Solved my own problem.  We routinely leave a blank line before any notes block and specs.  Apparently, if the first line of the specs field is blank, the specs will not prompt to be added to the PO.

The reason we leave the blank line is it makes the PO much easier to read (otherwise everything is crammed together).

I read your situation and I had similiar experience.  Turns out a "blank" line was added after the part number description and when this happens, you do not get a "Pop Up" asking if want to enter specs.  Go into po entry and into item display select screen and scroll down to end.  If you scroll into blank lines, this may be your problem.

I put a . on the first line so it has the extra space on all specs.
