EVO install
08/17/06 at 14:09:00

We are trying to install EVO on an older machine that is running the DBA Classic just fine.  It is a machine with Microsoft Windows NT Version 4 as the operating system (used to be a server machine and now is operating as a work station).  Everything went fine but when you try to get into some of the menus (SO-A), machine locks up with an empty box with a title of "Addsum TAS Professional 7i" across the top.  We were able to get into the System Manager menu to configure and setup email.  We are at a loss.  All other machines have installed just fine, of course none of them is using Windows NT.  Does EVO work with NT?  Is there something else we need to do?

Evo does not run on NT4 workstation, nor on WIN 95.  It can reside on an NT4 server accessed by WIN 98, 2000 or XP workstations but won't run on the sserver itself.

Always wondered why I had a problem on the server. Just figured something wasn't configured properly.

Thanks.  We never checked into the operating system requirements of Evo--just assumed that if DBA worked on the workstation, so would Evo.

I thought we were probably the only folks left that had a win95 DBA workstation.    Sadly, we were forced to replace it just last week, not because we had a DBA problem, but because it would not work with Microsoft OFFICE, nor could we find a laser printer that it liked.  While it was a little slow,  it ran DBA just fine, and on 16MGS.

We still have an old NT workstation running DBA..it must be a hundred years old, but it is so steady.  But I can't find a laser printer it likes either.

My old dinosaurs are one the reasons that I am always  scared to upgrade to anything (EVO or a newer pervasive).  Plus I never know where to bury them. I have an attic full of old computers waiting for EARTH DAY.

Around here, CompUSA and some of the Office Supply places have "Bring in your old junk" day so you can unload the old stuff and they will properly recycle it or dispose of it, as applicable.  Of course, while you are there, they want to sell you a new one...Always an angle.
