deleting salespersons
08/23/06 at 08:21:23

I am in CS-A enter Salespersons and am trying to clean up this file.  I want to delete a salesperson no longer here.  He is a salesperson on sales before12/2005.  He is not on any open sales orders.  When I try to delete him I get a fatal error- "You have tried to access a file that has  not been previously opened or the file #(FNUM) passed was 0.  And then an access violation at address 004024A4 yadda yadda.

I am an A person... can't I do this? ???

Well, I have done some clean-up in there. I had to no troubles with deleting them? I had to delete them as a Sales Person first than delete them from Payroll. In the past, you had to set them up in payroll even though they never got a PR check.

Could this have something to do with the program I am using? I am calling BKCSA.RUN dated 6/13/02.

Dont know, but mine is dated 6-28-06 and I did this clean up 2 or 3 months ago. I just tried to delete one in my tester files and NO GO. Fatal error, invalid pointer yada yada yada.

I just ran the commisions year end routine in the test company and now when I try to delete in either the test or the real company I only get the first error not the runtime error.  Still doesn't work though.

Another file I would like to clean up is the rep file.  I don't see anything that lets me delete reps. How do I do that?

Also, the listing in the contact manager has two different formats in the rep field, initials and employee number.  I guess this would be a candidate for exporting, correcting, and importing.  Any suggestions?

PS.- John, I guess we were posting at the same time-- although I am sorry that it didn't work for you either, I am glad to know I'm not alone!  Thanks for your posts!

The deleting sales rep bug in CS-A has been fixed.  A simple work-around is to delete the sales reps using DBA classic.
