EVO won't load on workstations
10/05/06 at 12:55:13

Evo starts on workstation, displays menu and drop-downs listing programs.  When you click on a program, nothing happens and Evo hangs.

May get error:
Addsum TAS Premier 7i
System error.  Code: 1400.  Invalid window handle.

Evo works fine on "server" (peer-to-peer)
DBA classic always works fine everywhere

Workstations and "server" all show User: ADMIN and Menu: ADMIN
Menu is unmodified
No other users have been defined.

8/11 update (and same for previous)
Pervasive 9.5 peer-to-peer
All workstations and "server" WinXP SP2

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Mike

We have exactly the same problem, but so far only on windows 98 workstations. I posted this under "Installation" and "Problems with August Update" and still haven't had any suggestions on how to fix this. So far our windows XP workstations haven't had any problems though.

Try this...

Use REGEDIT and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER - Software - ADDSUM and delete the complete ADDSUM key.  Then load Evo and exit without trying to open anything other than the main menu.  Then go back in ad see if it works.

I'd already tried that, since you had suggested it at the NH symposium.  Didn't work.

Turns out it was change company that fixed it.  Startup company in TAS-C still isn't sticking, though, possibly because we haven't set up menus and users yet.  If you exit EVO and re-enter it, you again have to File/Change Company, even though the company name is in the status bar at the bottom of the screen.

I tried as Lynn suggested.  Everytime I get out of Evo 8/11 I must go to regedit and delete the ADDSUM directory.  Then when I load Evo it works.

I tried her process of getting in and going out without doing anything, and going back in but I would have to delete the ADDSUM directory to be able to get back in.

I tried the change company suggestion, but that does not work for me.

FYI - I am using this in a stand alone TEST install of the 8-11 update.  Everything is on my computer and my OS is XP.

I suspect the two installs on one computer may be your problem. For awhile, I had two versions on my server (client/server not peer-to-peer) with separate icons pointing to separate ISTS folders on my workstation and all was well. After one update or another, things got really screwed up and I ended up deleting the test install.  I would like to set up a standalone test company. If someone would post the process, I'd appreciate it.

To clarify, our system is a peer-to-peer install.  The live system is installed on our "server" workstation and my computer has an icon for a separate ISTS folder mapped to the "server" drive.

The TEST install which is installed only on my computer, used a complete and separate copy of the live company in a folder called DBATEST, and the 8/11 update was installed to that directory, also has it's own ISTS folder and separate icon.

Installed the 8-11-06 update to our live company and problem is resolved.  Works fine now.
