I can't think of anything that would be affected, but if you're concerned try it in a Test Company.

I don't think it effects anything either. We don't use selling kits, Mainly F and A items. All of our F&O items are F, and it works well for us. My concern in my previous posts was whether there was some logic in the accounting modules that used the item type, or some reports that filter by type that might be effected negatively.
I am really hoping that Lynn and the rest of the programmers can come up with some improvements to F&O- it's a good thing to have if you sell/build items that have a multitude of options.

We utilize them quite a bit too (K type that is), so to have the F & O work with them, would be a huge bonus. Might just have to wait for the "fix" as opposed to changing all of the applicable K type items.
