Access Violation tp5wdba.exe then pointer erro
10/27/06 at 08:20:37

I have found one issue I do not know how to fix.  Hoping someone can help.

Order of events:

System description - 2002.1 SP2 version of DBA Classic, NT4.0 Server OS, Pervasive 2000i SP3

We had some index issues with PO reports / files which a quick reindex fixed. All working well on the PO side.

Next we Setup pervasive 2000i SP4 on a new Dell server running Windows 2003.

Copied over dbamfg folder to new Dell server ensured all was working fine.  Basic testing of DBA functionality went fine.  No problems apparent.

Ran 2004.1 update......testing again after update, all seemed fine.

Pointed all users to new share on Dell Server...all fine.

Users start working this morning with no issues (did need to run GL2002 program to setup accounts on secondary company files).......after that all worked fine.

During the day today users start having issues with MFG WO menu.

When going through MFG WO-J and closing a work order - after printing the closing report - we get the following error "Access violation at address 00401E16 in module 'Tp5wdba.exe'.  Write of address 00202020.

When you select OK on this dialog box error.........another dialog box comes up with "Invalid Pointer".

I also have users in our stock room saying that when they get into WO-G that they recieve similar "Access Violation and "invalid Pointer" errors.

No other errors have come up.........could I just have an index problem on my work order files?

Yes, that would be my guess.  Try UT-A, program DDCHECK and see if any errors are detected.

45 errors were found.

BKGLX
(type 1) field size errors (quantity and amount)
(type 1) dictionary does not contain BKGLX.ICLASS and BKGLX.CCLASS in BKGLX
(type 1) index keys for the BKGLX do not match those of standard DBA.

ISMCF
(type 1) dictionary does not contain (various fileds listed)

WOROUT
(type 1)  several errors showing mismatched dictionary field sizes

Remaining errors were type 3 (record length) errors.

How do I fix each type of error?  Will a reindex of each file typically fix this?

Reindex will not fix it.  The DDCHECK report should tell you what to do to fix it.  In most cases, UPDFILE for the files giving the error will rebuild them to the new dictionary structure.  It sounds like the update process did not properly complete when you updated to 2002.4 - You can't update a copy of DBA and then move the live data over.
