Time Deducted for Breaks in DC
01/09/07 at 05:39:17

We are in the final stages of implementing timekeeping using DC, and need to answer the following questions:

1) For each shift, break times can be entered so that DBA automatically deducts this time from whatever WO the employee is punched in to at the time of the break. This eliminates the need to punch in and out for breaks. Our employees get 20 minutes (0.33 hour) of paid break each day.

In the simplest example, if the employee is punched in for 8 hours to one WO, DBA will only charge the WO with 7.67 hours of labor. It appears, though, that the .33 hour simply "disappears". Where does this time go?

Again, for us, this 20 minutes (0.33 hours) of break time is paid time. Is there a way we can automatically assign this time to one of our permanent, indirect WO's, or to some other payroll account, so the total paid time is 8 hours, not 7.67?

2) Similarly, due to the variables in scheduling work, we have the occasional situation where an employee has a gap from the end of one job to the beginning of the next, that may range from mere seconds to several minutes.  Is there a way we can assign this "lost" time to an account someplace, so again the total paid time is 8 hours?

Thanks!
Dale

There is an option for "Enable Shift Start/Stop" in the SD-F data collection defaults that will almost get you what you want.  But all the breaks will still be deducted.  I need to see what it would take to identify breaks as paid or unpaid.

Thanks, Lynn.

Eliminating the need to manually enter any part of the timekeeping process is a BIG deal for us. There are certainly stand-alone attendence programs out there that will do this, but we'd like to do it all within DBA.

Thanks again
