Creation of WO for Discontinued Items
01/18/07 at 10:31:48

When creating a WO from SO-N, it allows you to do so on Discontinued items without even a warning.

Now, I know that if you just created an SO you would have gotten a Discontinued notice. But if you send it off to Shipping because you think you do have some, and Shipping sends it to Production because they're out and don't know it's been discontinued....

Good point...But what do you WANT it to do at that point?  You have already accepted the order.  Give a message that the item is discontinued and then...?

Either

Ask you if you want to create a WO or not in spite of that fact.
or
Skip it (then you could decide whether you want to make the item Active again so a WO can be created).

A warning would be helpful. Customer Service gets a warning that the item is discontinued. If they are ignoring the warning they probably have a reason. I'd like Production to get the same warning so that they will know what they are dealing with.

Option two would be annoying. Since we make out S/R orders for non-current products routinely, I would not want repair work orders to be stopped.
