F/O ON Sales ORder
02/12/07 at 16:34:45

I am playing with Features and Options and am having a hard time with the sales order.  I created a part number that has a color Option (O type), and in that Option I have a grey color option (O type), and a orange color option( O type).  The Grey and orange color option have grey and orange fabric in their respective BOMS.
The Color option is in the bill for the tube we are building.
I create a Sales Order and choose the grey color option.  I convert it to a work order and the grey fabric is in the Bill for the work order, as I want it to be.
I finish production on the tube and backflush, assigning a lot number to the fabric I used and a serial number to the finished good.
When I release the sales order, the first line released is line one with 1 unit shipping, but then there is another phantom line that is for .5 of a tube shipping and .5 backordered!  If I choose not to release the .5 it takes me to the end where it asks if I want to enter  lot numbers and if I say no the screen closes an nothing is released.  If I choose to release the phantom .5 tube,  and choose to print lot and serial numbers, it gets stuck on the serial numbers because it is asking me for .5 of a serial number and there is no such thing.
If I choose to release both the whole number line and the .5 line, and say no to lot and serial numbers, I get a release.  But the invoice is for .5 shipped and .5 back ordered, and the fabric option shows for only  half the amount.
Have I set this up incorrectly?

This is another case of "dba cant count"

I dont know about the serial number and lot control stuff but im told that if you invoice from SO-A last item on the SO header screen that they will invoice properly
if you use the release, it will &^% up
on F&O configured.

Im also told that at one point releasing did work properly but stoped after "an upgrade" about a year and a half ago.

I would like to see this fixed too.
