SO-C SHIP TO DATE
02/28/07 at 08:37:21

USE EXISTING SO SHIP DATES? If the default is set to Y, the Sales Order Enter Date is printed on Packing list.

This must always be an overridden to N, and for each Sales Order the Ship Date MUST be manually entered.

Have asked for this to be fixed several times.  Any idea when?  It is quite time consuming.

I do not understand what it is that you want fixed.

If you want the option "Use Existing SO Ship Dates?" to default to 'N', then just click the 'Save Settings' button that shows up next to the EXIT button just before you press enter on the last option in the list.  This will save your current selections for the next time you run SO-C.

P.S.  Please consider putting your system configuration information in your personal signature.  This would be a great help to those that want to help you.

DON'T BE INSULTING, I KNOW HOW TO CHANGE THE DEFAULTS AND SAVE SETTINGS.

I WANT THE DEFAULT SET TO "Y" AND HAVE THE  "USE EXISTING SO DATES?" WORK CORRECTLY.  AS I STATED PREVIOUSLY, IT DOES NOT AND HASN'T FOR OVER A YEAR.  THIS WAS BROUGHT UP AT THE SEMINAR.

I WANT TO ENTER A SALES ORDER, SAVE IT, PRINT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND PRINT PACKING SLIPS WITHOUT HAVING TO OVERRIDE EVERY ORDER AND MANUALLY ENTER THE SHIP DATE ON EACH AND EVERY PACKING SLIP.

IF YOU THINK I'M ANGRY, YOU ARE RIGHT.

I for one appreciate when others take the time to answer my posts, because there are things that I do not know or have yet to figure out. I don't think kevind was being insulting but rather trying to answer your question. So please stop YELLING at everyone.

I truly am sorry -

Emails tend to be taken out of context.  The thought of all caps being yelling never, never entered my mind until everyone put it there.

I have always somewhere in the back of my fried brain known that people took it that way.

All CAPS are my way of trying to get some answers or help or to at least be acknowledged, even if its someone else who is having the same problems.

Our usage and needs of EVO is very simple, I'm sure, compared to most of everyone.

Granted, I have only been working this system about 4 1/2 years, but I know all the information I need is in this program.  I just wish it would be tested a little bit more before releasing a major, major update.

These simple problems are basically paralyzing when they impede simple procedures like entering Sales Orders and Purchase Orders.

I applaud the updating, but I have to be able to at least have my people be able to work.

So again, I apologize, I just need answers like everyone else, especially because I have to explain this to the president of our company.

Thank you.

I still don't understand the problem.  When entering a sales order, every line can have a different ship date so at that point, there is no "Ship Date" for the order.  If you print the Packing Slip before releasing the order, there will still be no Ship Date assigned unless you manually enter one in SO-C.   The question in SO-C would only be used if you release the order and enter a ship date in SO-E before printing the Packing Slip.  In that case, the items released for the current shipment do have a "Ship Date" which could be printed on the packing slip.  I just tested and it is working as described.

I'm sorry, you know we do things a little different here.

We enter the Sales Order, Save it, then Print Acknowledgement, then Print Packing Slip and attach the Packing Slip to any Travelers that might have been printed, or just the Packing List if it is a stock item.

The default Packing slip screen that comes up after entering the Sales Order and Printing Acknowledgements, (Still pops up as SO-C.)  The question "Use existing SO Ship Dates"  if we have the default set at "Y"  it would always pull the ship date directly from the Sales Order, and nothing had to be entered.  If the default is set at Y, it does not pull the Sales Order Ship Date and print on Packing Slip, it pulls the current date (the date we print it.)

I brought this up at the symposium, and other people complained of the same thing.  Just need it to work again.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

As I said, I don't see how it could have ever worked because there is no "Ship Date" assigned to the order when the order is entered.  There is only a Ship Date once it is released.  Only thing I can think of is you had another custom that pulled the Estimated Ship date from the first line but that would not work as a general rule because a sales order can have a different estimated ship date for every line.

Lynn,
If an order is entered with RTI set to Y on the header and then line items entered with released set to Y, wouldn't it already be 'released'?

I believe that dstary (sorry, no real name) is indicating that with the option 'Use existing SO Ship Dates' set to 'Y', it should print the line item ship date at the top of the Packing List were it says 'Ship Date'.

I know that each line item CAN have it's own ship date, but I'll bet the the vast majority of them have the Same ship date on each line item.  the packing list only shows one 'ship date' at the top.  It would not be unreasonable to make it reflect the ship date on the first line item if the 'Use existing SO Ship Dates' is set to Y.

Smiley SmileyThank you for putting it better.  It wasn't custom.  One of the updates back about 18 months ago or so changed it.

We never backorder anything.  When we enter the Est. Ship Date, that is Gospel to us and 99.9% of the time, it is for every line item.  Otherwise, it is late and shows up on the Delivery Report as late.

We print all paperwork at the same time.  Acknowledgements, Packing Slips, Travelers.  Travelers and Packing Slips are attached together and sent out to manufacturing together.

Travelers show correct Est. Ship Date, however, as KEVIND clarified for me, with the option 'Use existing SO Ship Dates' set to 'Y', it should print the line item ship date at the top of the Packing List were it says 'Ship Date'.  Now it doesn't, it puts the Sales Order enter date

Unless your manufacturing turnaround is 1 day, you are backordering,
you just don't use the system to track your backorders.

Patch file posted today to www.istechsupport.com/status.asp that contains a number of things, including a new SO-C & SO-F that will pull the first line item Estimated Ship date if you say Y to use existing ship date and have not gone to SO-E and entered a date when releasing.
