Entering new customers
03/02/07 at 10:33:25

Will there be an update soon automatically assigning a Customer Code to new customers.  As of right now, we have to manually enter a number before it allows us to save the new Customer.

Hopefully, if this is added, it will be done as an option.  We prefer assigning our own customer/vendor code.   We use the 1st 3 letters of our customer's first name & the 1st 3 letters of the next word in their title.  But then we use that same code throughout our customer's records for all items such as quotes, part numbers, RMA #'s, etc.

Maybe I am misunderstanding this. Are you saying that if you add a new customer, it auto assigns the customer code for you?  as in the last customer was 5000 and if you add a new one it assigns 5001?  If so, then that was a custom program. Classic DBA or Evo has never done that.

Yep, I have been her 5 years and it has always done it.  Assign the next available number.  Perhaps when we purchased DBA, that was a throw in.  But we used it always.

It must have been a custom, Allen is correct, the standard program has never done that.  In fact most users do not use numbers at all but do something like what LeAnn describes which makes it MUCH easier to remember.
