IN-A Rebuilding Stock Status slow
03/12/07 at 15:19:08

I have noticed that the Rebuilding Stock Status message seems to be taking longer and longer as time goes on.  Are there any suggestions on how to speed this up?  Do we need to clear out some kind of transaction history to help this?

Thanks!
Chris

Two things that will help significantly:

1.   Archive Closed Work Orders (SM-J-B).  No loss of data, you simply look at JC reports selecting Archived rather than Active Work ORders.
2.  Purge Closed Sales Orders (SM-J-J).  While this does in fact delete the closed sales orders up through the specified date, the information is all stored and available in the Invoice History file which is not touched by this program.

Thanks Lynn!  I will try these archiving hints tomorrow and hopefully this will reduce the grousing I keep getting from a couple of impatient users (including myself!) about how slow IN-A is on our more popular items.

Cheers!
Chris

Lynn,

This sounds like it would speed up MANY things throughout the system, yes?

How do you view the information in the SO invoice history file?  It's pretty common that we look up a customers order history, so this needs to be readily accessible.

It will speed up MRP and anything that needs to rebuild or look at stock status as well as many reports so yes, it will have wide ranging effect.  SO-H is the easiest way to look at individual invoices.  Any of the SA module reports can be used.  SO-I and the Shipments button in AR-A (or AR-Q) are also options.
