It would be great if someone interfaced microsoft project to DBA via ODBC
so you could drag and drop workorders on a time line and then push the dates back into dba.

there is something called GeniusConnec  that I was going to try to use to get DBA stuff to showup in outlook.
However I think you need to be a genius to use it.  or at least be able to program some SQL statments.

ive done it manually and I  could see my workorders on a calender and connect notes to them in outlook but it needs to be a live connection to be really useful.

I noticed that your posting regarding Scheduling was in April, how are you doing with this module?
We are trying to run it and not sure of it's results, the reports seem to be missing something.
 Cool

We are using a browser based program we had developed locally.  It does link with DBA/EVO data.  We have been using it for the past two years and have been making constant improvements to it.  What use to take us 5-6 hours to schedule in DBA now takes less than 30 minutes per day.  The computers in the plant run the program thru a web browser and the page is refreshed automatically every 5 minutes.  The operator also can refresh the page when they finish a job to insure a change in the schedule has not taken place since the last automatic update.

Some of the items that we had changed to make scheduling easier are priority codes from 1 to 99.9 not just 1 to 3. And you can prioritize by work order sequence, not just by work order.

There are basically two programs. One is for the plant floor that allows the operator to pick the work center and machine they are operating. Listed by priority are all of the current work orders scheduled for that machine.  The operator is shown the W/O #, priority, work order sequence #, the sequence description, item #, item description (both lines), work order quantity, completed quantity (if that sequence has been started) and tooling #.  It also highlights the sequences that are currently ready to be run from those that are not ready.

The other program is for the person who does the scheduling.  It shows all of the same info that the operator sees as well as the estimated time to complete the sequence.  This program allows you to change the priority and/or machine instantly.  It also allows you to sort the work orders by work order #, priority or tooling and shows the total estimated hours for each machine.  When the program starts it displays all of the machines that currently have a work order scheduled on them along with the number of work orders and the estimated run type by machine and for the entire plant.

We currently have in our system over 2000 different routings (approximately adding 1 new routing per day) running through 10 work centers consisting of 32 machines.  Each day we consistly have 35-60 open work orders in the plant.  When an operator enters the parts completed quantity in data collection the completed sequence leaves the page and the next scheduled sequence becomes highlighted on the machine it is scheduled to run on.

For our MRP we are using EVO.
