Copy company
03/29/07 at 11:11:28

Last year we copied our company over to a new company to start fresh.  Ever since we have done that our Access program does not run correctly.  It ran perfectly under the old company structure.  Now that we are running smoothly, is there anyway to copy the files of the new company back over to the old company so that the Access program will work???  Our old company is thru Aug 06 and our new company is the entire company file.  We've had IT guys in here trying to get the Access program right on the new company numerous times.  If we could get back to the old company without having to data enter everything that would be wonderful!!! lips sealed

All those steps you did to create ODBC connection to your old company need to be done for your new company, and then your new company will work with Access. I am rusty since I haven't done it in a while, so I am not going to list the details here.  But I know you have to run ODBCDDF program in DBA in the new company.

I have ran the ODBCDDF already and that didn't seem to solve the problem.  We made a copy of our Access and then we copied our Access reports and changed the company numbers on the design view so that it is pulling from the right company.  But for some reason, it's not working.  We either get error messages like ODBC fail connect, or when the report does run it's not pulling all the info.

There are more steps to take- you have to create the ODBC engine for the data file in Pervasive for one.

I just pasted this link in an ODBC thread- http://www.mwaccounting.com/dba/white_paper.htm

If someone has a better source for instructions than this I am more than happy to be corrected.

Our oyside IT guy is coming in in the next couple of days and I will have him go thru the "white pages" and see if there is anything in there that he hasn't tried.  Hopefully this will help solve our problems.  I'll let you know how it works out. Grin
