PS-B and Menu Access
06/13/07 at 09:23:56

Hi
I want to restrict access to some menus. I went in to PS-B and selected a security level and clicked on menu access. Under YNC I typed C and N under the menus I wanted restricked. But this did not restricked access to the menu. Can some one help me with this?

Have you added/removed menu items for individuals in PS-G?  I think that this is what truly controls which menu items someone will have.

Yes I have. But I was hoping for a easier way of making menu access changes. I have 45 users which means I have to make the same change 45 times. there must be an easier way?

When making user menus I started with a few templates (e.g. one for sales, one for production, one for engineering, etc.) and then copied the templates to various people. I have since deleted the templates and have made many minor changes to individual users. When I need to add a new user I copy from a person who has similar job functions and then specialize from there. As a rule, I pare everyone down to the bare minimum and add choices when they need them.

There is also a Change Prg Name button in the upper left that will change a program from A to B for all users.

I do what Colin does, and it has worked pretty well.  Most of the functional areas have essentially the same base access, with managers getting a bit more, so it's not much to just copy a user and modify them.  I've also used the Change Prg Name (very handy) to make global modifications, like changing T6INA, T6INB to T7INA, T7INB, and then quickly back to T6INA, T6INB.... Wink

I'd recommend that approach.
