Issue with Bill to vs Ship To Records in SO-A
07/10/07 at 13:43:29

Interesting problem...sales trying to enter a new order for customerB.  When they select the customer for the sales order and press tab to move off the filed, they get  the following error:

(customerA) is a Ship To customer address.  The proper Bill to is (customerB).

They ARE actually picking CustomerB  for the bill to.....  Huh

Now I do know that customerB's name changed according to sales, and they had edited the record to reflect that. The customer code was left alone.  If they try copying an existing sales order for this customer, they get the error when they try to update the entered by field in the sales order.  So something's up with this customer record....

How do we fix this issue?

Thanks,

Val

Look in Maintain Database at BKARCUST for CustomerB.  If the BKAR.CUST.YEAR has a value in it, the program interprets it as a Ship To Customer associated with the code in BKAR.CUST.YEAR.

Hi Lynn,

I'll try that. So if it does have a year, should I delete that value? Or what?

Thanks,

Ok, went into MDB read only.  What I saw was two things:  1) yes the code customerB is in the bkar.cust.year, AND (2) an associated record, customerB-MN, has in the shipto field the customerB code.

So maybe somone used the wrong shipto code with the customerB-MN record, perhaps?  So would they
have to change the customerB-MN record, and then I'd have to edit the bkar.cust.year field in the customerB record to remove that code?  Would that fix the problem?

Thanks,

oops, never mind, after I wrote that I though DAH! just go in and see if it's set to a ship to in the AR
record.  It is.  That's the problem, I believe.
