Access to Credit hold function
09/20/07 at 14:02:05

Howdy,

We use DBA Classic.  We have version 2004.1.  It has come to light that users outside of the accounting function have the capability to take a customer off credit hold.  Does anyone know how we can nail down this loophole?

Thank!

Sign up for the IS Tech updates.  That includes a View only version of AR-A so people outside accounting can look at costomer information without being able to change it.  We also added the abiltiy to limt the CM-A link into AR-A.

Thanks for your thoughts Lynn.  We want people outside of accounting, for example in sales, to be able to view the customer info and in some cases edits addresses, etc, but we certainly dont want the sales department, or any other outside of accounting, to have the capability to take a customer off credit hold or even increase a customer's credit limit for that matter.  We may be asking too much for this functionality.

If you had the updates installed, you could allow them to view AR-A and have access to CM-A where they could change things like hte address or phone number and then you can also limit the ability of CM-A to open AR-A and yet the edits made to address and such in CM-A could automatically update the customer record in AR-A.  You just need to subscribe to the updates.  See www.istechsupport.com/updates.pdf for a description of many of the improvements and enhancements.

kbuck,
Please allow me to be the first to STRONGLY suggest IMMEDIATELY getting on board with ISTECH updates.

We have used DBA since 1998.
I cannot imagine using this software without the fixes that have been provided with our update subscription.

It can cost as little as $.75 a day!  The number of fixes and enhancements easily pays this back for years to come.

I agree that it would be helpful to limit access to the credit screens (maybe via a password).

Our CSRs need access to enter new customers for our orders (we probably get orders from 5 or so new customers every day) but I dont necessarily want them being able to change the credit info (this is more an A/R function).

I am not sure if being able to edit CM but not AR-A will work for entering Sales Orders for new customers.
