Free Vacation!
12/13/07 at 14:16:00

Had a strange thing happen this week with payroll. The employees were awarded vacation time they never earned. They are happy but the partners are not. The accrual dates as seen in the entry screens are back dated about 5 years. When I look at what I think is the field using crystal reports the accrual date is correct The amounts awarded are not the amounts in the current accrual rate field. We have had an issue recently with file locations in maintain database but I don't think this is related. Lynn helped me through that.

Using maintain database I see the same date in BKPR.INFO.VACAC as in the entry screen (which is wrong)
Using Crystal Reports and looking at BKPR_INFO_VACAC I see the correct date.
Any idea what is going on here?

Anybody else have a problem this week with payroll vacation accrual?

I think I found what is going on with my payroll. In my DBAMFG directory where the programs are, there is a copy of bkprinfo.b file which should not have been there.

Last week I had tried to run Maintain Database for the first time in several years, after many updates. The files I wanted to open could not be found. I ran the file path utility to set the file locations. I found that there were no files locations set prior to this, but my system still worked (except for Maintain Database) found the different company directories and files with no problem. Prior to setting the file locations with the utility though, payroll was updating the prbkinfo.b file that was in the DBAMFG directory. The system must be using some other file location method if to find the data files if no file locations were set using the utilty I used in Maintain Database last week.

I think I can just move the good PRBKINFO from the DBAMFG directory to the \default directory to fix my problem.

If anybody sees that I should do something different, please let me know.

Thanks

Sounds like it's worth a try. However, remember the golden rule of trying something out: make a backup of the file you'd be replacing. Back it up, copy over it, and then check the data in DBA thoroughly to be sure it's really what you want.
