Depends how you want to handle petty cash. Here's what we do:

Created a Petty Cash asset account.
Created vendor Petty Cash.
Created a voucher to vendor Petty Cash for xxx.xx against the new Petty Cash GL acct.
Printed and cashed check, put cash in bank bag.

When cash gets low, we enter an AP-B voucher for whatever transactions there are in the bag against the applicable GL account(s), then print and cash check, put in bank bag.
