Problem with 12/15/07 install
02/15/08 at 09:18:07

I installed it and it runs on the server. However, all of the workstations get

File Open Error
Error 12
BKSYMSTR
P:\DBAMFG\EvoERPMenu.run
Exe Path C:\ISTS

The EvoERP setup is:
Path - P:\DBAMFG\
DDF - P:\DBAMFG\
Prog Name - P:\DBAMFG\EvoERPmenu.rwn
Startup co - BVH

I've re-booted both the server and workstations. Crystal works fine from a workstation.

The only difference that I can think of is that the server has the DBAMFG on F:\ whereas all the workstations are mapped to P:\. This has been working fine (data is on G:\, but but the server and all workstations access it through a mapped S:\).

During installation I did get the "Default Company is located in the root folder" message and tried to let it fix it. However, I got a "An Error occurred while creating the file F:\DBA\TESTDATA\AHSYSLOG.B99 -11" and on every other one, as far as I could tell. I would expect that to be a problem, since the Application is in F:\DBAMFG and the data in G:\DBA. It doesn't seem like that would have anything to do with the problem but thought I would mention it.

Hmm... Well that error 12 means it can't find the file. And that file is found in the company's data folder so I'm guessing that somehow Evo's perception of where to look for the data is borked or the permissions on the folder are not right. You might try renaming the ISTS folder on a workstation and going through the initial workstation setup again to see if it fixes it.

It won't install the workstation. I can't tell you all the errors I got, but I tried a whole buncha stuff and nothing worked.

Finally I gave up. Upon restoring my 9/27/07 update files I was able to do a clean install of the workstation and it works perfectly. Also, the other workstations (that I didn't mess with) worked fine with the 9/27/07 update once I restored it.

When I installed the 12/15 update, I got a similar error when I let the install program try to correct the 99 test company (I got a long pause between each *.99 file that it tried to create, with each one eventually giving me the error message.).  I eventually aborted the install, and repeated it but did not let the program try the correction.  I had deleted the 99 company years ago, but EVO/DBA still thinks that it's there. Other than that, the update works fine.
