Errors in Balance Sheets for prvious years
03/07/08 at 10:20:06

Hi,

Using DBA classic 2004.1 with 12/15/07 update.

Our balance sheet for last year is out of balance. Included here are the balance Sheets for the year printed different times and the income statement for November.

I can email the files with the data.

Thanks
Shanthi

undecided First, you may want to check the Balance Sheet Format to ensure all accounts are included in the ranges specified when you print the statement.  AM-E, Format Standard Financial Statement.

Second, I would advise printing a Detailed Trial Balance, GL-E, printing Summary only which will show beginning and ending balances and debits and credits for the month, for ALL accounts for the month that is out of balance.

If the Detailed Trial Balance is in balance that is Good News!

Run UT-D on all the accounts and then a second time for only the ones that are out of balance.  This same situation has happened to before for no apparent reason and UT-D fixed (after several passes).

I only run UT-K-D, Recalculate GL Accounts, if I needed to make a one sided entry in EDITGL to correct an out of balance condition.

If the trial balance (GL-E) indicates an account being out of sync, then use EDITGL to post a one sided entry for the account in the month the trial balance is out of date.  RUN UT-K-D to recalculate afterwards, and then your financial statements should be in balance.
