I have used maintain database before to make misc. changes to entries.  When I go in there now, no files are showing up and I do not know why?  Any ideas

What version/date of DBA/Evo are you using? [It's always good to mention this when asking questions]  If you know, what is the name of the program that is being called when you click on Maintain Database? Has your profile been restricted from accessing it?

Sorry to answer a question with a question (okay, three questions), but I need a few more bread crumbs Smiley

You are right I should have included a little bit more info!  I have the classic DBA version 2004.1 with IS Tech Support Update 12/15/07.  I just made the IS Tech update January of this year, and I cannot remember if I have tried to access the maintain database since then.  I have full priviliges as far as menu access, I am the one that set them up.  I don't know if there was something that changed as far as acess when I downloaded the IS Tech update, but when I open up Maitain Database there are no files.

Go to UT-A and run MDBFXREG this will ask for the DBA path. Then run UT-J Generate DDF Files.

That should do it.

Allen, I just updated to the 03/18/08 updated this weekend.  I tried to go into MDB in Evo and whenever I select a file from the File Lookup dialog, I get a message box that is titled "File not found in FILELOC." and the box says "Unable to open selected file."  The lookup dialog shows all of the files and their assocated companies/paths, I just can't open any of them (tried 4-5).

This only occurs in Evo.  I have tried being logged in as both my "regular" login and as admin.  No problems using MDB in Classic.  I ran the registry fix and regenerated the DDF's like you suggested above, but to no effect.  I searched the forum, but I do not see where anyone else has reported this specific error message in MDB.  Any ideas what may be broken?

Chris,

The reg fix and the DDF fix is for Classic not Evo, so that explains why it did not fix your Evo issue, but I am at a loss as to why you can't open the files in MDB but the programs do run.. the code uses fileloc to open the databases in the programs.. very odd. I will get someone in Tech support to call you.

Ok, thanks.  Since we do not have a tech support plan with you (bronze only), if we broke it, I can discuss payment options with the tech whenever he/she calls to help me fix the issue.

Also, I am on the east coast, and I go home at 4 PM ET, so since you are in CA, I wanted to let you know so we can find the 4 hours or so of overlap when we're both here to get this fixed.

Ok, Allen, this is really goofy!  I was working on an Access database project & went in to MDB in Evo since I was already logged in.  I manually typed in the file name in the File Name box that's on the MDB screen (did not use file open in other words).  Whenever I key a correct file name and press Enter or Tab, the table loads fine.  I just cannot use the File Open or I get the "File not found in FILELOC." error.

Also, if I press F2 and select the file, sometimes it will load, but I do not get the file I selected.  For instance, I selected MTICMSTR for company 03, that's what tables headings load at the top of MDB, but the file contains no data and the status line at the bottom left shows I've got MTINVDEF for company 00 open.  Weird!

Sounds like a blown index.. I will send you a utility to reindex the FileLoc file.

Allen, I haven't seen an email from you yet.  Is the fix-index utility you mentioned on Friday included in DBA/Evo, or is this something special that you have to send to me?

I got it.  Thanks!  I didn't realize that you would have to write something custom; I thought that it was a tool already available.  Sorry for the trouble.

I'll run it tonight after everyone goes home since Lynn said it has to be done with everyone off the system.  I'll post an update here tomorrow if this fixes my glitch.

I am having this exact problem.  This happened after I tried to delete a company in Evo, and the deletion did not complete successfully because I still had users in the system at the time I ran the delete.

I found a file in my DBAMFG folder called t7redindexDD.rwn (notice the extra "d" in the middle - that's not a typo).  Is this the needed utility, or, do I need the utility emailed to me?

To clarify, I'm having the same problem as Chris Bowden on this post, not CRBlount.

I went ahead and used t7redindexdd.rwn on my TEST server, and it didn't correct the problem.  One thing I have noticed, though, (Evo) is that if I type the file name with extension and hit enter, the file will open.  If I use the File Lookup feature, then double-click the file I want to open, the file will open.  If I single click the file and then click the Select button, I get the "File not found in FILELOC." and the box says "Unable to open selected file."  Maybe it's always been this way?
