Links in new update
04/15/08 at 10:56:39

I have loaded the new update on a test machine.  I am trying to check out things that we covered in the symposium...
I am trying to add links to inventory items.  I have tried in IN-B and the file path is still limited to 60 characters   When will the Evo links program that allows 256 characters be available?

I ran EvoLinks.rwn and got the screen to add links to the different forms (PO,SO etc. but I could not get to the screen you had in your hand out that shows a part number with a list of links.

Another program I am not finding is the program to enter SHIP VIA codes.  It says in the help file SM-O but my SM-O is "Enter system notes".

Are these programs not included in  the 3/27 update?

I must have been in the wrong version when I first tried this.
On my test machine with the 3/27 update:
I can not add links more than 60 characters in IN-B when I am in the record for the part and clicking on the links tab.
I can add links with longer paths in the IN-B lookup screen by clicking on the "links" button. This is where I have added them so far. When I go there now I can see them in the list.  When I go back to the record screen in IN-B and click on the links tab, I can not see them.
I can not see the added links with the longer paths in IN-A either.  They are not in the list that pops up when I click on the links tab.
When I print a traveler they show up as thumbnails, so they are in there and working.

Summing up,   I can only add a link with the longer path when I am in the IN-B lookup screen. I can't see the links I added that have longer paths in either IN-A or IN-B when I am actually in the part number record.  The only place I see them is in the lookup for the part in IN-B.

Cathy,

There are two types of links, Item links (IN-B links for Inventory items 60 chars only) and there are Evo Links (in all the Grids for everything not just inventory) The old code (Item Links) still work the same as they always did. What has been added is the Evo Links. The only way to get to them is through the grids, maybe I should add a button in some of the programs to access Evo links too.

So to recap, the Links that are shown in INA and INB on the screen are the Item Links for those who choose to use that system. and the Evo links (for now) are only accessible through the Grids.

Got it, thanks Allen.   Now to explain it to the peeps.....    Huh

If you want my wish it would be that one day there will be the option to have only one "system".....
