Instructions for new Evo Notes
04/15/08 at 12:55:31

Are there any published notes/instructions on using the new Evo Notes?  We run both Classic & Evo.  I see discussion of a synchronization utility and CSN note types, but I would like to read over exactly what makes Evo Notes different (and better) than the Classic Notes system.  I've tried searching the forum but found nothing.  I've looked at the PDF help file on the member download page, too, but nothing.  The F1 help system gives brief paragraphs about the individual synchronization utilities, but I don't see anything that covers the whole "function" of Evo Notes.

A lot of people here seem to be familiar with it.  Did you all just dig in and learn it by trial and error, or am I missing the info because it was discussed at the symposium and my boss didn't have the $$$ to send me?  I don't want to turn it on if I can't turn it back off if I don't like it.  I also want to make sure that I understand how it should function in a mixed Classic/Evo setup before I start playing around with something I don't fully understand and make a mess out of our system.

Thanks!
Chris

Chirs,

Have you gotten any definitive information yet?  I'm also trying to get my arms around notes.  Under the Manufacturing section of the forum, it appears that there are some discussion related to problems with notes.  I can't understand the reason for the change and why they had to make it so complicated.  I guess I'm the type that doesn't like change when I do not see the reason for the change, especially when it disrupts our established procedures.

I had some issues with Notes at the onset but I am getting to really like the new notes.  The old notes did not wordwrap and the new ones do.  Also we can now take emails and copy them right into a note instead of spending time typing in what we need.  It is especially helpful in AR when customers give us feedback on items.  Months later we will be able to reflect back on those notes. I have everyone accessing STD NOTES.  I rolled Classic notes into EVO and haven't seen any problems yet (but it's only been a week).  I think you could go back to Classic if you wanted to, but why bother?
