I have asked this before and have not received an answer of fix  and I don't remember where the original question is--
I have one user that enters a lot of labor through WO-F (she is usually finishing sequences).  In the users screen she is listed as using this program a gazillion times!  When she restarts her computer the listings go away, only to start up again when she starts using the program again.
It may be my imagination but work on other workstations seems compromised in terms of speed when this is going on.
Is it her computer installation, or a program glitch, or is it in the category of don't know don't care 'cause you are imagining it?   Wink

I have one user who leaves lots of empty sessions in Pervasive. I don't notice a reduction in speed, but I do wonder about it. She is the one person who modifies BOMs all day (BM-A). I think that all that is happening is that a few of these DBA programs don't do a good job of cleaning up after themselves (garbage collection).

Yeah, I don't think that you should see any speed difference when this happens. The empty sessions aren't requesting data. They might tie up a little bit more memory but that should be it.

I don't see why the sessions couldn't be set to time out or something... It would ideally be nice if all Pervasive sessions timed out after 30 minutes and if a valid session timed out then Evo would reopen it and keep going. Well, a session with a current lock on a table or tables should probably not expire but everything else should be fair game. Granted, making the programs clean up after themselves would probably be an even better solution.

I guess I can't complain too much. I just found out that we have an in-house application that maintains an open PSQL session, but does not report itself in the monitor. That's bad programming on two levels, first that it holds a license hostage when it is idle, and second that an admin can't see what program or even what IP is reserving the license!

(I'm waiting in ambush to thump the programmer/consultant when he comes in on Friday.)  Cool

I suggest tar, feathers, and an industrial wood chipper. The chipper is optional I guess... They'll get the point either way. Wink
